The Zen TORII Mono's represent Decware's highest power flagship amplifiers at 60 watts per channel. They maintain the transparency and prat of our lower power amplifiers bringing the Decware sound to less sensitive audiophile loudspeakers.

They are KT-88 based class A push-pull amplifiers built in the Zen tradition with no circuit boards and precious few parts in the signal path. Each amplifier is upgraded to our full anniversary standard.

TUBE BIASING

With this amplifier it is possible to explore many different brands of KT88 tubes without the stress of worrying if they exactly match or not. * This is because there is a balance control between the meters that allows you to match the tubes to each other even with music playing.

*In a push-pull amplifier if the output tubes don't match you will develop hum.

MASSIVE HIGH VOLTAGE CAPS

The black cans behind the KT88 output tubes are combined to create a 1000VDC ultra high microfarad power supply that yields amazing dynamic headroom but also incredibly black backgrounds. This was done because we live in a world with dirty power at the wall outlets and not everyone can afford or wants a giant noisy power regenerator to clean the power - so we make the amplifier do it. Since the amplifier has a working voltage below 500VDC the capacitors are double what they need to be for safety and longevity.

TRANSFORMER COUPLED INPUTS

The XLR inputs on these amplifiers are transformer-coupled using Sowter of England transformers for ultra-flat and ultra-wide bandwidth. The transformers have an effect on the sound that is very positive by adding dimensionality and tone. Similar to what a good moving coil cartridge does. It would have been easier and less expensive to just make the amplifiers differential balanced and not use one. (RCA input is also provided)

POINT TO POINT WIRING

The complete absence of circuit boards puts everything in 3D space where the fields of wires and parts can be controlled. Everything is better, it sounds superior and doesn't break.

VOLUME CONTROL

Each amplifier has one. You can think of it as an input sensitivity or gain control. But it makes it possible to run the amp without a preamp and sometimes that will sound better. Also it makes it much safer to use as you can rotate the volume off whenever the amp is not in use so that turning it on with a signal blaring from your source doesn't scare the crap out of you.

SOLID HARDWOOD BASE

We makes these amps from 1/8 inch cold rolled steel that is high in mass and we direct-couple that to a solid hardwood base to create a resonate free amplifier which improves the sound. These bases are available in different woods and styles.

6922 BASED DRIVER STAGE

The driver aka input stage is based on the popular 6922 dual triode and is direct-coupled to a second 6922 used as a phase inverter. We ship these amplifiers with a wonderful sounding Russian military version of this tube called a 6N1P-EV.

POWDER COAT FINISH

The only finish that won't scratch off over time as it is electrostatically applied as a powder and then baked into the metal at high temperature.

OPERATES WITHOUT EXCESSIVE HEAT

This is because the power supply is oversized so that it does not run hot, and because there are only four tubes.

This amplifier is available with some different options regarding tubes.

Anniversary Mods -

This amplifier comes with full Anniversary Mods which include Foil bypass caps in the power supply and F&T mains caps. These mods are included at no extra charge.

XLR Inputs -

If you want to run balanced XLR into this amp, use our product called the ZBIT. You would set the ZBIT next to the amplifier and adjust it's output to your liking. It can be used like a master volume for both channels which is handy since the amp has dual volume controls.

Voltage -

The amp has a CE rated world voltage compatible power transformer. You can select your voltage from within the shopping cart. A power cord for your country will be supplied with the amplifier.

The Sarah model SEWE300B amplifier has its own unique 1.5 inch thick solid hardwood base design because it is too thick to fit into standard Decware bases. It comes in your choice of the above woods. Custom wood bases may be available for quote and would be non-refundable and paid for in advance.
